  • three-phase power
    • mrtuttle mentioned a GIF on the Wikipedia page that did a good job explaining the relationship of the three phases
  • vector brought some gadgets for home automation but the other interested member from past meetings was not in attendance
  • vector also offered up an Antec power supply for sale whose notable feature was a single power rail
  • tools for system administration including:
  • another member brought a bunch of laptops and a Gigabyte motherboard that were all intended to use coreboot instead of the vendor supplied BIOS (see also: the coreboot wiki)
    • used IC test clips to repeatedly flash various ThinkPads with coreboot and the OEM provided BIOS
  • Wayland was discussed as were the difficulties in getting it to work in Void Linux despite the fact that it worked easily in Ubuntu
  • VMware and the HTML5-based management interface was discussed and how it compared to the deprecated vSphere desktop management tool
  • mrtuttle had to leave early but said he would reserve the room for the next meeting on his way out
